Well, with the supposed console reveals mere weeks away according to several sources across the net, leaks are everywhere and this time, CVG has confirmed through their own inside sources that the new PS4 controller is not going to be the dual shock. Rather, we’re talking about Biometrics and an LCD Touch screen. Of course, the touch screen will instantly brings calls of “copying the Wii U”, and technically you could stretch it out to the biometrics being a better take on the never released Vitality Sensor. In essence, you could theoretically argue Sony is merely copying Nintendo and doing it better compared to previous decisions like the PlayStation Move.
The touch technology of the screen is likened to what the Vita uses and it’s pointed out the Vita will be closely integrated with the PS4 - suggestion you could potentially purchase a game for the PS4, and then transfer save data to the Vita and take the game with you on the go. I must admit, it’s a rather novel idea, but it does go a bit outside of their usual crowd. I could easily see how Sony fans are not going to be too thrilled about this, especially since most don’t seem to even like the PS Vita to begin with.
Naturally, this also brings back up the price point. This controller will cost more than the Wii U’s in all likelihood, and the console is more powerful than the Wii U. Could we see a $500+ pricepoint yet again? Who knows. Reportedly PS3 controllers will work with the PS4 (just like WiiMotes with the Wii U), but the focus will clearly be on the new controller. What an interesting turn of events. Could this be just the edge Nintendo needed? (Note: The picture is just a fan mock up, the actual design of the controller is under very tight lips right now)
